The GhaleGaun is beautiful village offer community base Homestay facilities for the tourists and local visitors. GhaleGaun Trek with Homestay program offers the trekkers a unique experience in typical settlements in the Annapurna region. GhaleGaun is situated at the height of 2,095m. The lifestyle of the village truly reflects an exotic living cultural tradition handed down through countless generations. Traditional customs are still followed during births, deaths, marriages and in other rituals. Age old cultural dances like Jyaure, serka, dohori, Ghatu, Sorathi, Jankri etc. are performed on various occasions accompanied by different musical instruments and with the dancers in traditional dress.

GhaleGaun villagers will welcome you with warm greetings where we can see local hospitality service. Ethnic food, traditional handicraft, Gurung culture, Gurung Museum, panoramic mountains views and natural sceneries are the prime attraction of the GhaleGaun Homestay. The people of Ghalegaun-Ghanpokhara keep goats and sheep and use wool from these animals to make woolen products. There are also the legendary honey hunters in this region who can display their skills by collecting wild honey from cliffs as high as 300 meters with their bodies suspended from the top on nothing but a tangle of hemp ropes.

GhaleGaun is being developed as an ideal rural tourist destination which has substantially contributed to the promotion of village tourism in Nepal supporting local economy strength. Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1300m).

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trip preparation.

Full itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu

Namaste and welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. Our company’s representative will receive you at the international airport in Kathmandu. Then, transfer to the hotel and you can take rest or walk around the local area in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trip preparation.

After breakfast, we set off for the Kathmandu city sightseeing tour. We visit the famous Hindus and Buddhists’ monuments that are also enlisted as UNESCO world heritage sites. They are Pashupatinath (the great pilgrimage site for Hindus), Bouddhanath (Buddhists’ Stupa), Swoyambhunath (Buddhists’ Stupa) and Kathmandu Durbar Square (where the living goddess lives). At the evening we come back to the hotel and prepare for the trek. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to GhaleGaun via Beshisahar.

Early morning drive from Kathmandu to Beshisahar, approximately 6 hours and again drive to GhaleGaun. Heartily warm welcoming by the typical local peoples. After typical local dinner, you will be refreshed by a cultural program and overnight stay at community home or a local villager’s home. The beautiful village of GhaleGaun lies along the round Annapurna circuit route. The rustic and traditional settlements, the ancestral home of brave Gurungs, GhaleGaun lies in the Ghale Uttarkanya village development committee.

Day 04: Visit village, Tea Garden and Gurung Museum at GhaleGaun

Today we wake up early and visit the Uttarkanya Temple and then back home for breakfast. After breakfast we visit the village and surrounding hills with tiny tea garden. Then come back for lunch. After lunch, stroll around the village, visit Gurung museum and a little village walk to explore local culture of GhaleGaun. Dinner and overnight stay at home.

Day 05: Trek from Ghalegaun to Khudi via Ghanpokhara 

Today we wake up and trek to Ghanapokhara which is about two hour walk. You can enjoy the view of sunrise and surrounding mountains as Mt. Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. Ghanpokhara is about 100m above Ghalegaun. After lunch we hike for 4 hours to Khudi, visit the construction site of Hydroelectricity Power project, see the waterfall and caves. Khudi in Lamjung District is one of the gateways to Annapurna Region, one of the famous trekking destinations.

Day 06: Drive from Khudi to Kathmandu

After having a beautiful GhaleGaun trekking, today we return back to Kathmandu. It takes approximately seven hours to reach Kathmandu. If time allows, you can utilize the remaining time to explore the Kathmandu city or you can either go for last minute shopping.

Day 07: Final Departure 

On your final departure, we bid you farewell today. Or move to another place if you have more itineraries to do or extra activities. If you do not have, our representative drops you at the international airport for your departure. Thanks for joining us for your memorable trip.
