Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is a short and popular trip in the Annapurna region, the western part of Nepal. It is also regarded as an easy trekking trail. Due to the spectacular Himalayan sceneries, lush forests, streams and terraced rice fields, this trekking has become a selective destination for the memorable Nepal trekking holidays. The trekking to Ghorepani, Ghandruk and Poon Hill is an ideal journey to the ethnic communities like Gurung and Magars. Their costumes, rituals and  festivals are distinct and charming. The trek begins after an hour drive to the Nayapul and heading towards the Birethanti.  Then it follows the ridge of the Bhurungdi Khola, cross the Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, Ghorepani and hikes up to the Poon Hill. It is the most striking destination of the treks. The sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan range are breathtaking. Trekkers feel that it is a piece of heaven. Ghandruk is a blend of natural and cultural prosperity. It is locally known as the village of Lahure, where the young boys are eager to join Indian and British Army. Outline Itinerary:

Day 01:  Arrive in Kathmandu (1300m).

Day 02:  Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Day 03:  Fly/drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (823m): 6 hrs drive

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul (1.5 hour), trek to Tikhedunga (1570 m). 4-5 hrs

Day 05: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2840m).

Day 06: Hike up to Poon Hill (3210m)-Tadapani (2610 m).

Day 07: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m).

Day 08:  Ghandruk to Naya Pul and drive to Pokhara: 6 hrs

Day 09:  Fly/drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Day 10:  Departure to the International airport.

Full itinerary

Day 01:  Arrive in Kathmandu (1300m).

Namaste and welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. Our company’s representative receives you at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Then, transfer to the hotel and rest. Walk around the local places in evening. O/N at Hotel.

Day 02:  Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

After breakfast, we set off for the Kathmancu city sightseeing tour. We visit the famous Hindus and Buddhista’ monuments, that are also enlisted in UNESCO world heritage sites. They are Pashupatinath (the greatest pilgrimage site of Hindus), Bouddhanath (Buddhists’s Stupa), Swoyambhunath (Buddists’s Stupa) and Kathmandu Durbar Square (where the living goddes lives). Back to the hotel and prepare for the treks. O/N at Hotel.

Day 03:  Fly/drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (823m): 6 hrs drive

After breakfast, We drive to the airport to fly Pokhara. It is a 25m. Scenic flight with the views of hilly landscape, gorges and terraced farm lands. Or we drive for 6 hours all the way to Pokhara. We can enjoy the boating on Phewa Lake around the evening. O/N at Hotel.

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul (1.5 hour), trek to Tikhedunga (1570 m). 4-5 hrs

From Pokhara, we drive to Nayapul for 1.5 hours. It is our check-in point to Annapurna Conservation Area Project (Acap) and TIMS counter. Following the ridge of Bhrungdi Khola, we head towards the Tikhedhunga. Crossing the terraced rice fields, we reach there. O/N at Lodge.

Day 05: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2840m).

On the second day of our trekking, we begin to walk on the steep climb up to Ulleri. While climbing, we see the Annapurna massif for the first time in the trek. After having lunch at Ulleri and rest, we trek further to the Ghorepani, our campsite for today through the oak and rhododendron forest. O/N at Lodge.

Day 06: Hike up to Poon Hill (3210m)-Tadapani (2610 m).

Wow, it is a huge day to hike up to the Poon Hill in the early morning. It takes about 45 min to reach the view tower. It offers the breathtaking sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massif. Also the views of surrounding Himalayan peaks are dazzling. Then we climb down to Ghorepani , have breakfast and trek to Tadapani. O/N at Lodge.

Day 07: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m).

After breakfast, we descend down through the forest and ultimately reach to Ghandruk in 3-4 hours. It is a beautiful village populated by Gurung indigenous community. Local people have a culture to join in the Gurkha soldier. We have an opportunity to explore their ethnic rituals, culture, and lifestyle. Their cultural performances are really something to see and enjoy in the evening. O/N at Lodge. (B, L, D, A)

Day 08:  Ghandruk to Naya Pul and drive to Pokhara: 6 hrs.

Today we trek to Nayapul from the Ghandruk village. Early we have breakfast with the view of Mt. Fishtail and other peaks. Then we trek down to Nayapul via Syaauli Bazaar along with the Modi Khola. After reaching to the Nayapul, we check-out from the ACAP counter. Then we drive all the way to Pokhara on our private vehicle. Walk around the Lake side in the evening. O/N at Hotel.

Day 09:  Fly/drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we drive to the airport and fly to Kathmandu. It is a half an hour flight to Kathmandu. Or we drive back to Kathmandu via Prithvi highway along the Marshyangdi and Trishuli River. The views are again superb. Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. We can visit around the local market in the evening.. O/N at Hotel.

Day 10:  Departure to the International airport.

After long days of our accompaniment, we bid you farewell today. Or move to another place if we have more itineraries to do or extra activities. If we don’t have, our representative drops you at the international airport for your departure. Thanks for joining us for your memorable trip. See you.
